Little Folk Workshops and Activities

Hannah Whittaker will be delivering daily afternoon drop-in workshops in the Little Folk area.

The workshops will focus on analogue animation workshops - creating shadow puppets and animations for zoetrope. By going back to the origins of analogue animation, in both the films and techniques, we aim to make film-making accessible to all - anyone with pen, paper and imagination.

While the workshops are aiming at children they are suitable and open to all ages.

Camden People's Theatre // Our Windows

For the duration of 'Whose London Is It Anyway?', a festival of theatre, performance and discussion exploring the changing face of our capital city, CPT's windows have been re-imagined as living spaces to underline the challenges posed by London's housing crisis. The windows will be occupied by artists, students and members of the public from 11th-31st January.

I shall be filling a window with cables and spending the day sorting and untangling them.

Last Hours of Laura K

Using 24 hours of footage from the fictional surveillance programme SATURNEYE, 'The Last Hours of Laura K' is a disconcertingly intimate, unfiltered and impartial look into Laura’s last hours before her death.

The 24-hour video file is only half of the story. To find the killer, users have to immerse themselves in the characters’ digital lives via their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram profiles, looking for clues and motives seeded by our writers over months to help them identify the killer.

The Last Hours of Laura K launched on Monday 30 March 2015.

A reaction against the passive audience - the moving spectator as opposed to a mere moving image.

This new exhibition takes Hannah’s original Run to Run installation and expands on the idea of the "viewer" having to exert themselves in order for the image to function. This aims to create a reversal of the notion of the ‘moving image’, requiring the spectator’s own movement to give the illusion of movement within the image. For each separate installation the viewers are required to perform the same action that they aim to see, for example having to cycle to view the bicycle animation.

In addition to the initial digital format of Run to Run the installations in this exhibition explore animation technologies, such as the Victorian zoetrope, to produce various interactive analogue contraptions for the audience to come and play with.

SELF/s PORTRAIT

Tuesday 15th October 2013

SELF/s PORTRAIT 2.0
An Aktion by Thomas John Bacon
Hosted by Home of Waifs and Strays

Thomas John Bacon's SELF/s PORTRAIT will be reworked into its second dissemination this month, following its successful premiere in Berlin as part of the MPA in May.  Produced by HFWAS

In the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral, this new work takes the idea of large scale subtlety to the public. The work features a host of artists who will be exploring the conception of what the Self Portrait for a live artist may become when distilled into an action that also seeks to express, what is a central tenant for Thomas, of how Being is made of multiplicity of 'self/s'.

Alastair Flindal, Helen Grundy, Rebecca Homer, Loretta HopeJohn KadensSuze de LeeSarah Fortes Mayer, Khembi Maynard, Andy MillerHannah MillestEmilia MoniszkoKimvi Nguyen, Jodie Ollis, Rachel Parry, Nadine Paige Riley , Helena Sands, Thomas Sellick-Newton, Alvin Tran, Jade Williams

Seen and unseen the portraits will appear from 1pm onwards, shifting the perception of the of those that may pass them by.  Solitary figures hidden amongst the daily lives of Others, connecting through an unseen Flesh, temporarily altering a communal landscape.
