Gillingham POW! Arts Trail | Public Installation

I have been commissioned to do another edition of Cathedral of Community, this time for Gillingham High Street as part of the Gillingham POW arts trail.

The Cathedral of Community is a colourful spectacle dedicated to people that make up Gillingham High St. A building will be taken over, its windows filled with tissue-paper stained glass portraits of the people behind the businesses and organisations of the area. Visible by day but also, more excitingly, lit up at night to create a dazzling attraction. This project removes the visual barrier of the physical walls of the High St, to allow us a glimpse inside at the staff, teams and workers behind the scenes.

The launch of Gillingham POW, featuring Cathedral of Community and 6 other projects, will take place on Saturday 28th August on Gillingham High St. Along with other local artists everyone will get a chance to fill the high street with art on the theme of local legends and heroes and everything that make Gillingham special to the people to live, work, study and visit.
