I will be running free workshops at Bob and Roberta Smith's Draw Hope pavilion which is being erected outside Chatham Library as part of the Estuary Festival.
The Forest of Hope workshops will lead you in the creation of a personalised tree mural using your own footprints and handprints, using the exercise to reflect on where you’ve come from and where you’d like to go.
Each workshop runs for 30 minutes and you can pick a time slot when you reserve your ticket:
Sun 23 May - 11am | 11.30am | 12pm | 12.30pm - Book here
Mon 31 May - 3pm | 3.40pm | 4.10pm | 5pm - Book here
Wed 2 June - 3pm | 3.40pm | 4.10pm | 5pm - Book here
Free and suitable for all ages and abilities.
Bob and Roberta Smith's Draw Hope pavilion is an outdoor gallery and art-making space that will be sited on the green outside Chatham Library, right on the River Medway as it sweeps its way to the Thames. A space to make and view art, everyone is invited to come and make their mark on the pavilion by drawing directly onto the walls of the structure, and through workshops with Bob & Roberta Smith and six local artists. Developing gradually over the three weeks of the festival, the pavilion will become a collective portrait of Chatham, focusing on how we retain hope and love during major events such as the pandemic and climate change, which have such global and personal resonance.
The pavilion is open everyday throughout the festival for you to come and make your mark, and you can also join one of our workshops, led by Medway artists. Find out more about the workshops here.
This work is a co-commission with Medway Council and Estuary Festival.
