Light Installation (2025)
Underwater Cathedral is a mesmerizing projection installation that transformed the back windows of Bowen Motors in Chatham into a vast, illuminated underwater world. Commissioned by Ideas Test for the Luton Lights Festival 2025, this piece was the result of a heartfelt community collaboration, bringing together pupils from Luton Primary School and local families to explore the theme of "Tales of the Deep."
Created using stop-motion animation, the installation showcased a dreamlike ocean scene composed of hand-drawn black silhouettes—fish, mermaids, octopuses, and other sea creatures—lovingly designed, cut out, and animated by the participants. These delicate shadow figures come to life as they swim and drift across the grand, cathedral-like windows of Bowen Motors on Luton Road, turning the everyday urban landscape into an enchanting underwater dreamscape.
